Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang by: Alex Goedhard
Have you ever wondered who that fast and furious soccer star who is dominating the pitch is? That is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga German Soccer League and the Gabon international soccer team. Most soccer fans who think they know every soccer player probably won’t recognize him because he plays for the Gabon national team which has never made a World Cup appearance. Although Aubameyang may not have made a ground shaking international appearance, he could soon be the biggest transfer target for many top clubs.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was born on June 18, 1989 in Laval, France. His parents lived and are from Gabon, so that is why he doesn’t play for the France international soccer team. He grew up dreaming of being a professional like his dad was. He first started out as a substitute for A.C. Milan but made no appearances.
He was soon loaned by lots of French teams so they could experiment with him. Finally, he was signed by Saint-Etienne and used as a starting right-winger. Then, in 2013, he was traded to Borussia Dortmund in Germany. That was when his speed started to really stand out.
Aubameyang has found his home at Borussia Dortmund and loves his home field environment. Pierre-Emerick is the current fastest player in the German league and clocked 30 meters in 3.7 seconds. He now plays as a forward for Borussia Dortmund and he has been Dortmund’s success story. When Dortmund was last place at the beginning of the season, he brought them to 7th place and has scored 14 goals and taken 90 shots. Aubameyang likes to run down the right side of the field and then cutting in towards goal, waiting for a pass from his teammates. Another one of his strengths is finishing his shots. Aubameyang is a little bit inexperienced and needs to work on his passing and offside awareness.
If he can work on all of these skills, he could soon be the best forward in the world. He also has strong potential with his speed and considering he is so young, he could soon be the best forward in soccer. If you play FIFA 15 fantasy soccer, get Aubameyang! He is a beast with 95 pace rating!

Penrose Triangle by: Evan Lam
The Penrose Triangle is an interesting illusion created by Oscar Reutersvard. The illusion was created sometime in between the 1900’s to the 1950’s, and is still one of the best illusions that was ever created. It looks like a 3D triangle at first, because of the choice of shading. But, as you look more closely, you see that the figure makes no sense.
The shading is supposed to make the figure look 3D, but instead, Oscar makes the shading bend weirdly, making the figure angle into itself. The black part, which is supposed to be the bottom, bends, and quickly becomes the side of another part of the triangle. Oscasr technique is to make every color twist backward, making it look like its part of another side. The illusion shows up so clearly because of the 3 colors he picked, which contrast very well against each other. Another reason why the illusion just pops out at you is because of the dark outline he drew onto the shape. I love this piece of art because it’s an illusion that your mind is will never figure out how it works. Because it’s an impossible shape, every time you look at the drawing, your brain will start hurting.

Starry Night by: Amelia Park
Starry Night is a painting by Vincent Van Gogh, a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter. This piece shows a scene of a night sky and the town below it, glowing because of the moonlight. Because the colors are mostly mixed with other colors, it expresses a romantic feeling of a night sky. He also uses short brushstrokes with some black on the background so it adds a feeling of darkness in the night, and it shows how bright the stars are as well.
On the left side of the painting, you can see a big, black, mysterious building. This should stand out to you because you can’t really tell what it is, and I believe Van Gogh chose to coat it black to make it suspenseful and interesting. He also chooses to show the light of the stars in the night sky by painting the white and bright yellow around it. Finally, the wind in his painting is also very
noticeable since he uses white, orange and light yellow brushstrokes to show the wind’s currents.

Hummus: A Taste of the Middle East by: Talia Weiss
Hummus: a hummust! No one knows exactly who made this dish, because it’s so old. Now, you may be wondering, what exactly is hummus? Well, it is garbanzo beans, a garlic clove, extra virgin olive oil, tahini, lemon juice and salt, then you just put it in a creamer, and there you have it; a vegetarian’s dream.
Most people who haven’t tried hummus think it must taste nasty because of the look (and, if you do, I don’t blame you), but it tastes like more olive-y garbanzo beans. You can dip pita chips, pita bread, and even eat it by itself! With its creamy tan color, and many different flavors, you gotta catch ‘em all!
And if all the different flavors don’t satisfy you, you can add different spices and oils to it, like paprika and olive oil. I prefer to have homemade hummus, but you can buy hummus from places like Safeway and Trader Joes.
Personally, hummus is my favorite dipping condiment, and I rate it 10/10 stars, but it’s ultimately your opinion. So how much do you like hummus?
